Doha, August 10 (QNA) - Reach Out To Asia unveiled on Monday the international organizations that will take part in the first ever Global Youth Consultation for the United Nation's World Humanitarian Summit (WHS). The Global Youth Consultation will take place in Doha from 1st to 2nd September 2015 ahead of the World Humanitarian Summit, which will be held in Istanbul, Turkey, in 2016.
The Global Youth Consultation, to be organized at the Education City Student Center, will be attended by Major Group for Children and Youth (MGCY), Youth World Humanitarian Summit Working Group, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), United Nations Trust Fund for Human Security, and UN Secretary-General Envoy on Youth as well as Plan International.
ROTA also named the six Qatari institutions that will sponsor the Global Youth Consultation; Qatar National Bank, Qatar Airways, Qatar Petroleum, Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat), Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF), and the Organization of Islamic Relief.
The UN chose ROTA to host the event due to the latter’s initiatives to tackle issues affecting young people in Qatar and other parts of the world.
Around 300 youth from 82 countries from different parts of the world will take part in the first World Humanitarian Summit Global Youth Consultation in Doha.
The two-day consultation is a platform aimed at giving voice to the young delegates, aged 18 to 30, during the international meet initiated by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to improve global disaster preparedness and response.
The event will allow the views of the youth to be incorporated into the UN Secretary-General's report and the overall recommendations for the international meet that will gather governments, humanitarian organizations, private sector and members of the society affected by humanitarian crises.
