Italian Football Legend Maldini Dies at the Age of 84
Rome, April 03 (QNA) - Cesare Maldini, legendary Italian defender and father of Paolo Maldini, died Sunday at the age of 84.
Maldini played for Triestina, AC Milan and Torino from 1952 to 1967. He won four league titles and a European Cup with Milan. He also captained the side then managed it from 1972-1974.
Other achievements included coaching Italy from 1996-1998. He reached the quarter-final of the 1998 World Cup before losing on penalties to France.
The Italian Football Federation FIGC said a minute's silence would be observed before games played on Sunday and Monday in honor of
Maldini. Italian Prime Minister also expressed his condolences saying that Maldini was a great Italian. (QNA)
