Minister of Public Health Opens Al Thumama Health Centre
Doha, June 08 (QNA) - HE Minister of Public Health Dr Hanan Mohammad Al Kuwari has inaugurated Al Thumama Health Center and toured its different sections, where she was briefed on its health services.
The center will provide an integrated and comprehensive health and preventive services which include family medicine, vaccination, communicable diseases and non-communicable diseases, ENT, dental, ophthalmology, dermatology and mental health. There will also be a Medical Commission unit, laboratory and pharmacy services as well as home care services.
In a press statement following the inauguration ceremony, Her Excellency said that this center is one of many health projects being implemented and aimed at providing the best health care services for the population of Qatar.
"The primary health care centers are of great importance within our health projects, because primary health care is essential for the development of health care system in the state," she said, adding "We continue to work through the national strategy for primary health care (2013 - 2018) in order to provide a world-class primary health care."
HE the Minister pointed out that more health centers are scheduled to open during this year in various parts of the country to meet the needs of the population, saying that health centers at Rawdat Al Khail and Um Salal are scheduled to open in the coming days.
The Al Thumama Health Centre, a Type B category, will help ease congestion at the Um Ghuwalina and Airport Health centers.
Spread over 8,000sqm, Al Thumama Health Centre can accommodate up to 10,000 visitors in the first year itself. The health center will cover a large number of areas including Airport Area, Um Ghuwalina, Nuaija, Al Hilal and Al Thumama.
The health center will be working under the Clinical Information System whereby all the patient records will be available digitally. There are 45 clinics at the health center including specialized clinics. The health facility is expected to accommodate between 20,000 and 30,000 people when fully operational. It aims to serve the residents of the areas of 47, 46, 45, 44, 42, 27, 17, 16. (QNA)
