Doha April 05 (QNA) - Qatargas and RasGas are currently attending the 2017 Gastech Conference and Exhibition in Tokyo, Japan. The joint delegation includes senior leaders from both organisations.

On the opening day of the conference, HE Chief Executive Officer, Qatargas, Khalid Bin Khalifa Al-Thani joined a world-class energy leadership panel to discuss "How are gas suppliers adapting to the changing global market?" The widely anticipated panel discussion allowed energy leaders to highlight the unique positon of LNG as a safe and reliable energy of choice for consumers all over the world.

Expressing optimism over the future of the LNG industry, Khalid Bin Khalifa Al-Thani said: "Natural gas remains the fastest growing fossil fuel globally, benefiting from its flexibility in multiple demand segments, its competitive economics and low emissions profile. LNG is well positioned for substantial growth as countries around the world continue to look for ways to reduce their carbon footprint by replacing heavier polluting fossil fuel. Long-term growth prospects remain positive as traditional markets expand, new markets emerge, and new technologies and applications evolve." He added: "Qatargas will continue to apply the best proven technologies to further increase reliability, enhance safety, and operate in an environmentally responsible manner." Khalid Bin Khalifa Al-Thani noted that Qatargas recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of the first LNG cargo from the State of Qatar to Japan.

"Since then, Qatargas has safely delivered more than 2,600 cargoes of clean, reliable energy to our esteemed Japanese friends and partners." Qatargas will also present two technical papers during the conference. Khalifa Ahmed Al-Sulaiti, Safety and Risk Manager, will deliver a paper entitled: "Getting to "Near-Zero" Liquid Discharge: Qatargas' Process Wastewater Treatment System" and Abu Bakar Usman, Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer, will present a paper on "Initiatives to Reduce Environmental Impacts and Improve Energy Efficiency in an LNG Plant." Throughout the exhibition, Qatargas and RasGas showcased the capabilities and talent of the Qatari energy industry alongside Qatar Petroleum and Nakilat. With more than 25,000 visitors and 600 exhibitors at this years' event, Gastech is a key event for the international oil and gas industry, and a global meeting place for energy professionals working in the natural gas cycle.
