Qatari Beach Handball Begins World Games Meeting Uruguay
Wroclaw/Poland, July 25 (QNA) - The Qatari beach handball team will meet its Uruguayan counterpart on Wednesday in its first match within the 10th edition of the World Games held in Wroclaw, Poland. The match is payed in Group B which includes Brazil and Australia, while Group A contains teams of Croatia, Hungary, Egypt and Poland. The first and second teams of each group will qualify to the semi-finals.
The Qatari team in the tournament is ten players: Muhsin Mohammed Al Yafi'i, Mahab Ali Mahfouz, Mu'tasim Mohamed Abdulwahed, Amir Dengir, Sayed Ali Qenaoui, Ahmed Ragab Morjan, Anis Abdulrazzaq El Zouaoui, Mohammed Ahmed Zaki, Hani Marwan Kakhi and Hadi Hazem Hamdoun.
The team held a training camp in Poland for a week in preparation for the World Games, to which they qualify after finishing third in the latest world championships held in Hungary last year. This is the second time for the Qatari national handball team to participate in the World Games. the team took part in the last edition held in Colombia in 2013 and finished fourth after losing to Croatia 1/2.
Qatar are seeking to add a new achievement to its previous series of achievements, which include the third place "twice" in the World Championship Brazil 2014 and Hungary 2016, the title of the Asian Championship in the last four editions in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017, gold medal in the Asian Beach Games in the last three editions in 2012, 2014 and 2016,and the gold of the second Gulf Beach Games in Doha in 2015.
