Ministry of Municipality, Environment Amends Construction Specifications
Doha, November 08 (QNA) - Ministry of Municipality and Environment announced the modification of the Qatar Construction Specifications in cooperation with the private and public sectors, Public Works Authority and Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology.
The ministry said in a statement that Qatar's standards for construction have been updated with the adoption and application of international standards in order to diversify the sources of material imports and in line with the industrial developments in the construction sector.
The ministry noted that the most prominent of these changes is the development of new mechanisms in design contracts that allow the diversification of importing sources of building materials and construction, while ensuring their quality according to international standards and allowing the use of local and imported limestone in the construction of asphalt layers and concrete works as well as other structural uses.
The changes also include permitting the use of recycled materials according to specific controls, including burying construction residues and non-asphalt layers.
The ministry pointed out that under this amendment, it is possible to import any materials approved within the international specifications accompanied by a laboratory certificate indicating the type of standard that applies to the imported material. (QNA)
