Khartoum, October 20 (QNA) - Governor of East Darfur Anas Omar said that The State of Qatar has played an important role in sustaining stability in the country through sustained local, regional and international efforts that have resulted in unprecedented support for Sudan's issues on these Platforms. He added that this has enabled Sudan to overcome the obstacles that prevented stability.

This came in a statement made by the governor who expressed his appreciation for the Qatari support, which he said is still on going and is greatly appreciated by the people of Sudan. The governor of East Darfur praised the achievements of the Qatari leadership on establishing lasting peace through the Doha document, which gave the region sustainable stability and gave Sudan the ability to face all other peace challenges as an oasis of peace in the region.

He said that the Doha Document, since its signing, has helped Sudan to numerous achievements, not only in Darfur, but also as a panacea for the Sudanese, reinforcing their national unity and joint collective action, but also covering internal and external issues of the country through the end of the war agenda and defeating its advocates and supporters.

He stressed that the state of East Darfur, thanks to the peace gains, has been able to establish infrastructure and institutions that enable it to start optimally and to achieve the ambitions of its people and improve their lives. He pointed out that the State of Qatar is now implementing the largest projects, such as the state's largest development complex. He said that the complex involves a model village that will serve tens of thousands of people. It will include schools, pharmacies, youth centers, a police station, an Islamic center, and many other facilities. The project will cost more than $8 million with Qatari support, he added.

The governor of East Darfur state noted that the State of Qatar helped Darfur become on par with other states of Sudan through planning, construction and reconstruction. He stressed that the Qatari leadership has remained supportive of the people of Sudan and stood with them in their plight. (QNA)
