Third Package of Qatar Public Private Partnership Schools Development Program Announced
Doha, February 22 (QNA) - The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) announced the third package of Qatari schools within Qatar Schools Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Development Program.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said that the third package includes 4 secondary schools, 5 preparatory schools, 4 primary schools, and one school for students with special needs, with the aim of meeting the increasing demand in the education sector in line with the population growth and the number of students enrolled in schools while achieving continuous improvement in the quality of education.
The scope of the project includes designing and constructing 14 schools, demolition work in evacuated schools, financing the project, operation and maintenance for a 25-year concession period, and handing over the assets to the authority at the end of the term.
In this regard, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) called on interested parties to submit letters of interest to develop Qatari schools within Qatar Schools Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Development Program (package 3) in the design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance system, and then transferring the ownership of 14 new schools.
The statement mentioned that the purpose of submitting letters of interest is to invite Qatari and international companies and consortiums that are capable of implementing the project by expressing their desire to implement the project, adding that the qualification request documents will be issued after receiving the letters of interest requests from the interested companies. Then a meeting will be held with the companies interested in the project during the qualification request period in order to provide more information and answer the questions received from them.
The statement also stressed that this project comes within the framework of Qatar's commitment to meet the increasing demand for public services, as it seeks to find innovative ways to provide the required infrastructure, realize Qatar National Vision 2030 and empower the private sector to play a major role in achieving long-term goals and results, especially through the use of the public-private partnership as a means of developing infrastructure and providing services.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry noted that interested bodies can submit documents and submit letters of interest, through the Public Works Authority website www.ashghal.gov.qa. All documents along with a valid commercial register must be sent electronically to EOIashghal.gov.qa no later than March. 9,2021, before 1:00 pm, Doha time.
It is worth mentioning that Qatar Schools Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Development Program includes the development of 47 schools for different stages divided into four packages. The first package of which was signed, while the second package launched and the fourth package will be announced in the future. (QNA)
