KAHRAMAA Sign Contract with Al Bidda Factory to Supply Internal Feeding Switches Worth QR63 million
Doha, April 11 (QNA) - Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) signed a new contract with Al Bidda Switchgear Company for the supply of internal feeder switches, with a value of QR63 million, for three years, and by ordering when needed.
The contract was signed by HE KAHRAMAA President Eng Issa bin Hilal Al Kuwari and HE Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Bidda Switchgear Company Sheikh Suhaim Abdulaziz Al-Thani.
According to the contract, the company will meet the needs of KAHRAMAA for switches, after the recent increase of demand for them as a result of a comprehensive urban and development renaissance in the country, and the accompanying increased demand for electricity, provided that these switches are kept in the stores of the supplier, and then supplied directly to contractors, within two days following the issuance of the order.
The contract is an extension of a previous contract signed by KAHRAMAA with the same company, with a value of QR3.3 million for the supply of feeding panels, and within the framework of the plans to raise the stock of materials needed to develop the electricity network, and in support of the national product and the march of the Qatari economy, as the Corporation is keen to give local companies priority obtaining tenders, to enhance their competitiveness.
The winning of Al Bidda Switchgear Company of the contract demonstrates the continuous support of KAHRAMAA for Qatari factories, which stimulates investment in this field, and encourages entering into tenders, especially considering the preference of national products go according to legislation.
KAHRAMAA provides technical support to local factories to rehabilitate them and adopt them in the list of suppliers, in line with strategies to encourage the private sector in accordance with the principle of economic innovation and has previously signed contracts with a number of those factories, to diversify their sources locally and internationally.
Through this, the corporation contributes to encouraging local investment and diversifying its base, after these manufacturing companies have proven their ability to compete with their counterparts in providing materials. (QNA)
