Doha, June 20 (QNA) - The Omani team secured their place in the Arab Cup after defeating Somalia 2-1 in the confrontation between the two teams this evening at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium in Al Sadd Club within the qualifying matches for the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup in Doha.
Oman's goals came through, Muhsen Saleh Al Ghsani in the 12th minute and a penalty from Saleh Al Yehyaei scored in the 36th minute. Abel Gigli scored Somalia's only goal from a header in the 55th minute.
With this victory, the Omani team secured their place in the first group, which includes Qatar and Iraq, waiting to determine the winner of Kuwait's confrontation with Bahrain to determine the final team in the group.
The Arab Football Cup, organized by the International Federation, will be held in Doha from November 30 to December 18.
The preliminary qualifiers for the Arab Cup will be held from 19 to 25 this month at Khalifa International Stadium and Jassim bin Hamad in Al Sadd Club, to qualify 7 teams to complete the list of the 16 teams participating in the finals.
The Arab Cup was drawn in Doha in late April, where the 23 participating teams were divided into two categories. The first included the 9 best ranked teams in the FIFA world rankings, which qualified directly for the group stage, while the second included 14 teams that will enter the preliminary round to reserve their seats to the finals.
