Doha, November 23 (QNA) - Qatar National Library announced today the names of the winners of the first edition of the photography competition (Wiki Loves Monuments 2021), which was held in cooperation between Qatar Museums and the Qatar Photographic Society, to encourage photographers to take pictures of eleven Qatari monuments added to the Wikipedia website. The last requests were received on October 31.
The winners of the competition are Manageri Saxena, Malda PPS and Riteography, Imramzan, Sanir Mohammed and Abdul Nasser Al-Jaroudi (photographer from Qatar News Agency) with their works selected for their creativity, originality, quality and their ability to deal with cameras with high professionalism.
The winners of the local competition were nominated for the international competition, the winners of which will be announced in January 2022.
It is worth noting that anyone can use advanced images to enrich and clarify Wikipedia entries that talk about and promote the State of Qatar.
It is also noteworthy that (The Wiki Loves Qatari Monuments) is an annual photography competition to celebrate and promote cultural heritage through content with a free license that allows everyone to benefit from it. The competition is organized by Wikipedia community volunteers from around the world, and the top ten images from each country are selected for the international final competition.
