Scream 5 Tops North American Box Office
Washington, January 17 (QNA) - Scream 5, the fifth movie of the famous horror series Scream, topped the North American box office, achieving USD 30.6 million in its debut.
The film is expected to bring in USD 35 million over the four-day Martin Luther King holiday weekend, which cost less than USD 25 million to make.
The latest installment revolves around a woman who returns to her hometown to find out the identity of a mysterious person who has committed many horrific crimes, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett and stars Courteney Cox, Neve Campbell and David Arquette.
Spiderman: No Way Home fell from first place to second this week after four weeks at the top. It is expected to achieve revenues of up to USD 26 million dollars during the holiday weekend. The film stars Tom Holland, Zendaya and Marisa Tomei, directed by Jon Watts, and has grossed more than USD 700 million since its release in December.
The musical animated film Sing 2 fell from second place to third, earning USD 8.3 million. The film was directed by Garth Jennings, starring Taron Egerton, Bono and Tori Kelly.
In fourth place was the suspense movie The 355, with revenues of USD 2.3 million. The film stars Jessica Chastain, Penelope Cruz and Fan Bingbing, directed by Simon Kinberg. (QNA)
