Ministry Of Interior Launches Digital ID Card App
Doha, May 24 (QNA) - The Ministry of Interior launched today the "Qatar Digital ID Card" application service, on the sidelines of the 14th Milipol Qatar 2022 event which was held today and will last for three days.
The new service application features the "Digital Identity Card" that offers highest degree of confidence for the users to obtain the digital identity through a secure and easy and it contributes in reducing identity theft crimes in the cyber space.
Users face recognition application has been introduced and stored in the Ministry of Interior's system as a core factor in creating the digital identity to document the authenticity and validity of the ID of the persons eligible for the service accessibility, including the protection and online transactions safeguards in order to solidify the concept of secure cyber space.
The identity of the users has also been created, upgraded and linked to a distinctive electronic signature of the persons, which includes national digital certificates that can be further utilized by the users via the same application to approve electronic transactions in compliance with the enforced regulations and legislations in the state of Qatar for the sake of protecting these transactions against fraud.
The new service provides practical and reliable process to indicate the identity of the site to transactions; in order to avoid instances of denial of signature and promote confidence in the electronic transactions both locally and globally. In the same way electronic seals have been introduced that will primarily enable the Ministry of Interior, including the entire Ministries and Authorities in Qatar to electronically seal their documents and protect them against forgery and tampering in addition to finding easy ways to access typical copies to compare paper documents that have been authenticated through certification and electronic stamping services from the Ministry of Interior website.
The application will provide easy access for the users to the Ministry of Interior's electronic services website as alternative to using the current method, which includes the use of an automatic reader for the "plastic" smart card, and the difficulty it includes, within the upgrading process that will be initiated on the electronic services website of the Ministry of Interior, then followed by Unified Platform Accessibility for all government services upon completion of the integration between the different systems.
The application will include the digital wallet, which provides storage and accessibility services for the official card and electronically signed and sealed transactions for individuals at the Ministry of Interior. The digital wallet includes cards issued by the Ministry of Interior, including a digital copy of the "plastic" Qatari ID, driving license, and vehicle license.
The Ministry of Interior aspires to protect users privacies within this national program that applies maximum security in electronic transactions and international standards through offering accessibility to the electronic government services in a more secure and efficient way. The system will enable the users and organizations to set up and verify signature and electronic seal within the electronic transactions, dispensing with the need for paper documents. The program will positively contribute in the integration of various digital systems in a more secure and easy way, in addition to maintaining confidentiality and security in the area of sharing and transmitting electronic information to be provided for the concerned stakeholders for the sake of facilitating the process for the users and attain the strategic objective in the Ministry of Interior, including the provision of secure and integrated digital services without physical auditors.
This step comes in the framework of the steadfast operation of the Ministry of Interior to offer cutting edge and distinguished services for users both Qatari nationals and Qatar residents. Moreover, the step also offers significant contribution in the national digital transformation and automation systems among all Ministries and Authorities in the state of Qatar within the persistent efforts aimed at achieving the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 and MIO strategic plans.
