QR 34.2 Billion Qatar Foreign Merchandise Trade Surplus
Doha, May 27 (QNA) - The Planning and Statistics Authority has released preliminary figures of the value of exports of domestic goods, re-exports and imports for April 2022.
In April 2022, the total exports of goods (including exports of goods of domestic origin and re-exports) amounted to around QR 43.5 billion, showing an increase of 107.4% compared to April 2021, and increase of 18.4% compared to March 2022.
On other hand, the imports of goods in April 2022 amounted to around QR 9.3 billion, showing an increase of 13.6% compared to April 2021. And decrease of 7.6% compared to March 2022.
In April 2022, the foreign merchandise trade balance, which represents the difference between total exports and imports, showed a surplus of QR 34.2 billion almost, i.e. an increase of about QR 21.4 billion or 167.3% compared to April 2021, and increase by nearly QR 7.5 billion 28.1% compared to March 2022.
The year on year (April 2022 vs. April 2021) increase in total exports was mainly due to higher exports of Petroleum gases and other gaseous hydrocarbons (LNG, condensates, propane, butane, etc.) reaching QR 27.8 billion (approximately) in April 2022, i.e. an increase of 108.0%, Petroleum oils & oils from bituminous minerals (crude) reaching QR 6.8 billion nearly, increase by 111.9%, and increase in the Petroleum oils & oils from bituminous minerals (not crude) reaching 3.7 Billion 104.1%.
In April 2022, China was at the top of the countries of destination of Qatar's exports with close to QR 6.6 billion, a share of 15.1% of total exports, followed by India with almost QR 5.5 billion and a share of 12.7%, Japan with about QR 4.5 billion, a share of 10.4%.
The year on year (April 2022 vs. April 2021), the group of "Turbojets, Turbo propellers & Other Gas Turbines; Parts Thereof" was at the top of the imported group of commodities, with QR 0.7 billion, showing an Increase of 40.0%. In second place was "Motor Cars & Other Motor Vehicles for The Transport of Persons" with QR 0.4 billion, showing an increase of 12.0% and in third place was "Electrical Apparatus for Line Telephony/Telegraphy, Telephone Sets Etc.; Parts Thereof" with QR 0.3 billion, increase of 5.8%.
In April 2022, China was the leading country of origin of Qatar's imports with about QR 1.5 billion, a share of 15.7% of the imports, followed by United State of America with QR 1.2 billion almost, a share of 13.3 %, and India with QR 0.7 billion, a share of 7.5%. (QNA)
