Qatar-Norway Business Meeting Discusses Means of Commercial Cooperation

Doha, June 12 (QNA) - Qatar-Norway Business Meeting reviewed on Sunday the means of enhancing commercial and industrial cooperation, investment opportunities available in both countries, business cooperation existing between businessmen in both countries, and means to establish associations to enhance commercial and investment exchange.
The Business Meeting was presided by HE Qatar Chamber First-Vice Chairman Mohamed bin Twar Al Kuwari representing the Qatari side, and Epsen Teksum, manager of Innovation Norway in the Middle East and Head of Norway delegate, representing the Norwegian side.
After welcoming the Norwegian delegate, Al Kuwari delivered a speech expressing his expectations for a fruitful meeting that would contribute to enhancing Qatar-Norwegian economic relationships, and would identity investment opportunities in both countries.
Al Kuwari confirmed the strong bonds linking both countries in various fiends, especially in economic fields, in addition to investments in various economic sectors. While both parties enjoy a promising business environment for further economic cooperation, however, the existing commercial exchange is still below expectations, recording around QAR 195 Riyals during 2021. Therefore, more mutual efforts are necessary in the private sector to encourage further commercial exchange.
In his speech, Al Kuwari stated that he was certain that more development are to be witnessed in the upcoming years, given the attractive Qatari infrastructure, legislations, and investment basis, combined with the advanced Norwegian technology and long industrial expertise. Al Kuwari invited Norwegian companies to increase its investments in Qatar, establish efficient partnerships and associations with Qatari companies in all sectors including industry, agriculture, tourism, food security, petrochemicals, engineering equipment, infrastructure, etc.
Al Kuwari also encouraged Qatari businessmen to identity business opportunities in Norway. His Excellency referred to Qatar Chamber interest in enhancing Qatar-Norwegian partnerships, and encouraging Norwegian businessmen to invest in Qatar.
Epsen Teksum, manager of Innovation Norway recalled the 60-years long Qatari-Norwegian commercial relations, including investments in oil and gas and defense sectors among others. Teksum invited Qatari businessmen and companies to partner with Norwegian counterparts in energy, marine industries, and food security sectors to mention a few.
Teksum mentioned Innovation Norway interest in supporting Norwegian business innovation, competitiveness and sustainability locally and abroad.
In a presentation, Investment Promotion Agency of Qatar (IPA Qatar) presented business environment in Qatar and facilities granted to investors.
During the meeting, presentations showed Norwegian companies represented by the delegate, services provided and key investment opportunities available. (QNA)
