National Commission Holds Consultations in Qatar in Preparation For "Transforming Education Summit" in New York

Doha, June 14 (QNA) - The Qatar National Commission for Education,Culture and Science and Education Above All Foundation, in partnership with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization "UNESCO" and the United Nations Childrens Fund "UNICEF", are holding a series of national consultations in the State of Qatar in preparation for the Transforming Education Summit which is set to kick off on September 19 in New York City of the States United States of America, in recognition of the education as a human right and a foundation for peace and sustainable development.
The summit strives to renew the global commitment to education as a priority public good, in addition to mobilizing ambition and solidarity for joint action and exploring solutions towards forming a new concept of education. The event is also intended to accelerate efforts to recover from learning losses due to COVID-19 pandemic, in addition to reinvigorating the efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) relevant to education and its quality, and better prepare societies for the future.
A Pre-summit conference is scheduled to be held in preparation for this anticipated event in the French capital Paris on June 29 and 30.
The consultations, which is set to be held on June 15-16 at Hamad Bin Khalifa University, will include approximately nine sessions, addressing a wide range of topics, including the transformation of education in the state of Qatar, determining transformations and strategic means to establish a new concept for the goals of joint education for the twenty-first century, in addition to ensuring a full recovery from educational turmoil owing to Covid-19 pandemic, ensuring strengthened and more sustainable public financing for education, raising the ambition of national education goals and standards, establishing inclusive, fair, safe and healthy schools, raising the efficiency of teachers and the quality of teaching, and raising awareness of the importance of the teaching profession, teaching and learning process, sustainability and the environment, as well as digital transformations in education field.
A broad range of officials and professionals from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, academic institutions, public and private sectors stakeholders, principals, teachers, parents, students, youth and development partners, including representatives from UNESCO and UNICEF, are set to participate in the consultations.
