Qatar Participates in Side Event on Technology Adaptation, Economic Empowerment for Persons with Disability

New York, June 16 (QNA) - The State of Qatar participated in a side event titled "Disability in Pandemics and Crises: Technology Adaptation and Economic Empowerment." The side event was organized by the Arab League General Secretariat on the sidelines of 15th session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). The event was held at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York.
HE Minister of Social Development and Family Mariam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad chaired the State of Qatar's delegation to the meeting.
The meeting dealt with enhancing the interdependence and mutual influence between the Internet and assistive technology for people with disabilities, and related topics, in addition to discussing ways to empower people with disabilities economically.
The meeting's agenda also included the support of the Arab Group for the Qatari efforts in organizing the second workshop of the League of Arab States specialized in examining efforts to develop and adopt a unified Arab classification of disabilities, which is scheduled to be held during the period from June 27 to 28 this year. This would be the first event of its kind worldwide. (QNA)
