National Consultation on Future of Education Concludes

Doha, June 18 (QNA) - The Education Above All Foundation (EAA) and the Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science facilitated a national dialogue on key priorities for education in Qatar. As a result, participants developed a series of brief recommendations that will be presented to the General Secretariat of Transforming Education Summit during the dedicated pre-summit in Paris and the main conference in New York, planned for September 2022.
Over fifty stakeholders, including ministries, Qatar's governmental and non-governmental entities, academic institutions, private companies, local and international organizations, as well as teachers, parents, students and youth, gathered at the College of Islamic Studies of Hamad Bin Khalifa University for two days of discussions.
Education Above All Foundation hosted three panel discussions, covering century-21st education transformations and goals, sustainable public financing, and inclusive, equitable, safe and healthy schools. Education Above All also led sessions on the role of education in sustainable development, as well as the importance of higher education in fostering new skills for the job market.
Education Above All's Director of Operations, Arwa Mosaed, delivered the closing statement, which encompassed recommendations and proposals elaborated during workshops and consultations that will be used to develop a comprehensive report on Qatar's educational transformation and development.
Her statement made mentioned the productive collaboration between local and international participants and emphasized the importance of holding consultations every year: "New ideas that emerged through creative cooperation, comprehensive thinking, and commitment towards results-oriented action are fundamental for the progress and achievement of our common educational goals," she added.
Several public sessions were held as part of the National Consultation, giving an additional platform to a variety of stakeholders.
Aimed at identifying priorities and setting goals beyond 2030, public sessions covered educational transformation in Qatar and the post-Covid recovery of the education sector.
Participants also discussed the benchmarks and targets of national education and noted the digitalization of the sector as the most significant recent trend. (QNA)
