Palestinian PM: Money Piracy Won't Deter Us from Commitment to Families of Prisoners, Martyrs

  • PALESTINE

Ramallah, August 01 (QNA) - The Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh confirmed that the Israeli occupation government's decision to deduct 600 million shekels (equivalent to 173 million USD) from the Palestinian tax funds is unfair, illegal and represents fraud.
During the meeting held by the Palestinian government today, the Palestinian prime minister stressed that the Israeli decision is compounding the Palestinian crisis on daily basis, indicating that such a decision would never dissuade his government from pursuing its commitment to the families of the martyrs and prisoners.
The Palestinian presidency has recently condemned the decision taken by the Israeli entity to deduct from the Palestinian tax incomes, adding that such a process is vehemently rejected and represents a defrauding against the Palestinian funds.
The Hebrew newspaper, Maariv, stated that the amount that the Israeli entity decided to deduct is the same as the total amount transferred by the Palestinian Authority last year as salaries to Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons and their families.
In 2018, the Israeli parliament approved, in the first reading, a bill allowing the government of the Israeli entity to withhold part of the Palestinian tax funds, equivalent to those provided as allocations to the families of prisoners and martyrs. (QNA)
