Manila, August 03 (QNA) - An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale hit Tuesday the southern Philippine province of Davao Oriental.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the epicenter of the earthquake occurred 51 kilometers southeast of the municipality of Manay located in the province, at a depth of 20 kilometers.
So far, there have been no reports of casualties or material losses due to the earthquake.
On July 27, an earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale struck the northern Philippines province of Abra, killing more than nine people and injuring hundreds.
The Philippines is located in the Pacific "Ring of Fire", where about 90 percent of the world's earthquakes occur. (QNA)
