Qatar Charity Sends Relief Supplies for Flood Victims in Pakistan
Doha, August 27 (QNA) - Qatar Charity distributed urgent relief assistance to Afghan refugees and the host community of flood-affected people in the Balochistan province of Pakistan, in cooperation with the Pakistani Regional Disaster Management Authority with more than 9.000 people from Afghan refugees and the host community benefiting from this assistance.
The relief aid, including food and non-food items, comes as part of Qatar Charity's efforts to alleviate the suffering of those affected by the floods and meet their basic needs in light of their difficult living conditions .
Qatar Charity distributed 75 tents with their supplies to the affected families in the Nushki area of Balochistan, and about 525 people benefited from shelter assistance.
Food baskets were also distributed to 1,275 families of Afghan refugees and host communities in the areas of Nushki and Qila Saifullah in Baluchistan, where the two areas witness a large influx of Afghan refugees; because they are located on the Pakistani-Afghan border. The baskets included basic foodstuffs, which benefited about 9,000 Afghan refugees.
Teams of Qatar Charity in Pakistan were able to deliver aid to those affected by floods in remote areas and villages that are difficult to reach.
Deputy Commissioner of Nushki district Khurram Khalid Baloch commented that they asked Qatar Charity to provide relief assistance in the village, which was severely damaged by the floods, stressing that Qatar Charity distributed relief aid in coordination with government agencies in the region, which was in urgent need of food and shelter assistance.(QNA)
