Turkish Authorities Annouce Resumption of Navigation in Bosphorus Strait
Istanbul, September 02 (QNA) - The Turkish Air Force announced the resumption of navigation in the Bosphorus Strait after being suspended yesterday, due to a breakdown of a cargo ship and its veering towards land.
The Directorate General of Coastal Safety said in a statement that it had opened the strait to the movement of ships.
The Turkish Coast Guard said that the 173-meter-long ship "Lady Zahma" ran aground in the Bosphorus Strait due to a rudder failure while sailing from Ukraine to Istanbul. The Turkish authorities suspended, on Thursday, the traffic of ships in the Bosphorus Strait.
The Bosphorus Strait, is a strait connecting the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara, and with the Dardanelles Strait is considered the southern border between Asia and Europe. (QNA)
