45 Al-Shabab Militants Killed in Military Operation in South-Central Somalia

Mogadishu, September 19 (QNA) - More than 45 members of 'Al-Shabab', linked to Al-Qaeda, were killed in a military operation in south-central Somalia.
A military operation carried out by the Somali army in the Yasooman area of the city of Bula-Burde resulted in the killing of more than 45 members of 'Al-Shabab' movement, Somali News Agency (SONNA) reported.
In a related context, the Somali army was able to kill nine of Al-Shabab militants in another military operation in the Warmahan area of Lower Shabelle region. The operation also resulted in the injury of three members of the army.
The ongoing military operations in all regions of Somalia have killed more than 200 Al-Shabab militants in the past weeks, and liberated 30 areas that were under the control of the movement.
On Aug. 23, Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud renewed the government's determination to liquidate Al-Shabab movement, which is linked to Al-Qaeda militarily, ideologically, and economically.
Despite the passage of a decade, the Somali Al-Shabab movement still poses a security threat to Mogadishu, as it has claimed many attacks that have killed hundreds of civilians and security personnel. (QNA)
