Earthquake of Magnitude 4.9 Hits Northeastern Colombia

Bogota, September 19 (QNA) - An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale hit the Santander province, northeastern Colombia.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said that the epicenter of the earthquake occurred 6km from the Gordon district, located in the province, at a depth of 156 km.
There were no reports of casualties or material damage as a result of the earthquake so far.
In 1999, Colombia was hit by an earthquake of magnitude 6.1, which killed 1,185 people, lost 700 others, injured at least 4,750 people, and displaced about 250,000 people. The city of Armenia was the most affected by the earthquake. (QNA)
