Ambassador of Qatar Takes Part in Conference on Human Rights in Germany

Berlin, September 19 (QNA) - HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Federal Republic of Germany Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Thani participated in the human rights conference held by the German Football Association (DFB) at the DFB Academy headquarters in Frankfurt.

In his speech, HE the Ambassador highlighted the latest positive developments in the field of workers' rights in the State of Qatar. He noted that Qatar has opened its doors to all human rights organizations and trade unions, and opened an office of the International Labor Organization in Doha. These organizations have exercised their functions with comfort thanks to the cooperation accorded to them by the State which considers them an important partner to support its development process.

His Excellency expressed his pride in the accomplishments achieved by the State of Qatar, which has become an example to follow in the Middle East, such as the abolition of the sponsorship system, the establishment of a minimum wage which benefited about 242,000 workers, and ensuring the freedom to change the employer without the need for the consent of employers.

His Excellency added that the State of Qatar has established 14 visa issuance centers in Nepal, Pakistan, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and Tunisia.

HE the Ambassador expressed Qatar's welcome to all fans, wishing that Qatar's hosting of the World Cup would be a historical model to follow in all upcoming international competitions and events.
