Russian Foreign Ministry Summons Canada's Ambassador

Moscow, September 20 (QNA) - Russian foreign ministry summoned Monday Canadas ambassador to Moscow Alison LeClaireon in protest of an attack at its embassy in Ottawa.
The ministry said in a statement that the Canadian ambassador was summoned and handed a diplomatic note of protest over a lit Molotov cocktail that targeted the Russian embassy by an unidentified person.
The statement called for immediate measures to ensure proper protection against discrimination against Russians, as well as staff and their families, in accordance with the obligations of the Canadian side to the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
Russian ambassador to Canada Oleg Stepanov said that a diplomatic note of protest had been sent to the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to demand a thorough investigation into this incident, voicing hopes that assailant who threw the Molotov cocktail will be arrested and punished. (QNA)
