Sudan Welcomes Qatar's Hosting of Fifth LDCs Conference

New York, September 23 (QNA) - Acting Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Al-Sadiq Ali has expressed his country's welcome of the State of Qatar's hosting of the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) during the period from 5-9 March 2023.
This came during his presentation of Sudan's statement at the annual ministerial meeting of the Least Developed Countries, which was held yesterday on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Al-Sadiq expressed Sudan.s aspirations for the Doha Program of Action (DPoA) for the next ten years to be the first program to address the repercussions of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic in the Least Developed Countries, as well as the food and energy crises and climate change, noting that the Doha Program of Action constitutes a practical opportunity to make fundamental improvement and tangible progress on all levels whose results are in the interest of the Least Developed Countries.
The meeting focused on sustainable and resilient recovery from the pandemic and the importance of implementing the Doha Program of Action. The development partners also declared their commitment to multilateralism in order to achieve the implementation of the sustainable development goals in the Least Developed Countries.
In his speech before the ministerial meeting, the Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that his country attaches great importance to the implementation of sustainable development goals, and that the steps it has taken in this regard confirm its desire to do so. (QNA)
