Doha, September 27 (QNA) - Al Rayyan municipality, in coordination with property owners, is conducting the necessary maintenance works for buildings and real estate in accordance with the comprehensive urban plan of the State of Qatar, as part of the keenness of the Ministry of Municipality, represented by municipalities, to improve the aesthetic and civilized image of cities across the country.

Director of Al-Rayyan Municipality Jaber Hassan Al Jaber said that a working team of specialists from the municipality has been formed to survey commercial buildings in various areas of the municipality, where about 638 buildings have been inspected and 389 commercial buildings have been notified of the need to carry out maintenance work in cooperation with property owners; noting that maintenance work has already begun in 90 properties, and work is underway on the rest of the properties that have been notified.

He explained that the billboards of 515 out of approximately 1,100 shops are currently being reorganized in Salwa, Furousiya, Industrial and Aziziya commercial streets. Inspection is currently underway in the commercial buildings in Othman bin Affan, Al Shafi, Muaither commercial, Umm Al-Dome, Al-Rowaidat, Al-Tawba and Canary streets.

Al Jaber added that the role of municipalities in the initiative to organize shop billboards is regulatory, aiming to contribute positively to improving the quality of life in the city and the prosperity of commercial urban areas. Municipalities also coordinate with the relevant authorities of the ministry and those related to other ministries, as well as their supervisory role to correct negative visual effects, especially areas with high-quality visual components, and reduce unaesthetic facades of building. He noted that banners are one of the ways to display external advertising for shops and have great importance in communicating information to the public, as they help companies in introducing the goods offered and services provided and promoting the activities practiced in them.

He added that the organizational process of billboards contributes to supporting the distinctive Qatari identity that is in harmony with the urban character adopted by the comprehensive urban plan of the State of Qatar, it also addresses the existing negative phenomena, contributes to upgrading and improving services to achieve Qatar's national vision, and encourages the advertising sector to cooperate in order to beautify the visual landscape of the city and contribute to its aesthetic coordination, and maintain an acceptable level of visual image and safety components of the region.

The Director of Al Rayyan Municipality stressed that organizing billboards does not mean unifying them in terms of shape and specifications as some imagine, but there are different designs of advertising banners depending on the urban styles adopted for commercial buildings according to the overall urban plan, what is needed is harmony and consistency of style, color and dimensions of a commercial street according to its location and design, and it is not intended to generalize uniformly to all commercial buildings with different designs, taking into account that these regulatory guidelines for billboards do not limit creativity in design or innovation used in the components of billboards, but it encourages diversity and a dynamic design that maintains aesthetic visual vision and distinctive architectural and architectural monuments of the city.

The Ministry of Municipality launched in May the first copy of the second edition of the "guidebook of planning and organizational conditions and the procedures for the means of media and advertisement in Qatar," which aims to guide and define the requirements governing the quality and levels of advertising and propaganda media, whether they are within the boundaries of the property or outside, or were independent, and determine the distances between and integration with the surrounding urban elements.

The guide includes the development of standards and planning requirements for the advertising sector, which helps to improve the urban landscape and improve the visual vision of the city's landmarks, to achieve the aesthetic and coordinating identity of all cities in Qatar. (QNA)
