Doha, October 04 (QNA) - HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, attended on Tuesday the opening of the World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH 2022). The three-day conference is held under the theme "Healing The Future" at Multaqa Center in the Education City.
The opening of WISH 2022 was attended by HE President of the United Republic of Tanzania Samia Suluhu Hassan, a number of Their Excellencies Sheikhs and Ministers, policy makers, scholars and specialists from countries around the world.
Addressing the opening session, HH Sheikha Moza underlined that the innovative efforts of scientists, doctors and sectors concerned with health services around the world are indispensable, however, initiatives are of the same importance and perhaps more important. "We need initiatives that motivate the individual and remind him of his responsibilities towards himself and his community," Her Highness said.
Speaking about the organization of the World Cup, Her Excellency added: "Just as our sports projects, which after more than a quarter of a century reached the level of hosting the FIFA World Cup, have inspired us to continue developing our country, they can inspire us again, in Qatar and around the world, to develop and reshape our perceptions of ways of building more efficient and comprehensive health care systems." Her Excellency noted that WISH always touches on very important topics. Although the topics vary this year, there is one shared goal, which is to search for ways to direct people to adopt the most appropriate and optimal lifestyle to ensure their health security.
WISH 2022 focuses on four main areas of sports and health, disability and inclusivity, post-COVID-19 legacy, and wellbeing. Discussions will revolve around ten topics that will be presented in specialized seminars, addressing important global health challenges such as climate change and food security, the mental health of healthcare workers, and vaccine innovation, all backed up by evidence-based research reports prepared by the Summit experts, which provide actionable policy recommendations.
WISH will host about 20 healthcare innovators from 13 countries who have been selected to showcase their innovations at the summit. WISH 2022 will witness over three days a variety of events including art exhibitions, introduction of investors in startups, and the "Agora" sessions which revive the atmosphere of the traditional Greek assembly places to share discussions on topics such as stress in the workplace.
