Arab Foreign Ministers to Meet on Oct. 29, 30 in Algeria

Algiers, October 24 (QNA) - The Arab foreign ministers will hold a meeting on October 29 and 30 in Algeria to prepare for the 31st Ordinary Arab Summit on November 1 and 2 in Algeria, diplomatic sources revealed today.

The sources, said in exclusive statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the ministerial meeting will be preceded by a two-day meeting of the League of Arab States at the level of permanent delegates on Wednesday, to prepare for the meeting of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level.

The sources indicated that the Arab League Council, at the level of permanent delegates, will submit to the ministerial preparatory meeting for the summit the agreed-upon draft resolutions on many political, economic and social issues on the agenda of the 31st session, foremost of which is the Palestinian issue, the Arab-Israeli conflict, and international developments. The current regional issues, the issue of Arab food security, and the situations in Lebanon, Syria, Libya, Yemen and Somalia will also feature in the talks.

Senior officials of the Economic and Social Council are scheduled to hold a preparatory meeting for the Council of the League of Arab States at the summit level on the 28th of this month.

Algeria has completed its final preparations to host the Arab summit, affirming its determination to make it a success, in order to produce results that live up to the aspirations of Arab peoples.

In addition to the Arab leaders, Algeria extended invitations to guests of honor, led by Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations.

The summit is expected to discuss crises in the Arab region and issues of food and energy security in light of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.

The last Arab summit was held in 2019, while Arab summits were postponed in the years 2020 and 2021, due to measures related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
