Labor Minister: Qatar Deals Seriously with All Constructive Proposals Aiming to Improve Work Environment


Doha, November 02 (QNA) - HE Minister of Labor Dr. Ali bin Smaikh Al Marri stressed that the State of Qatar has dealt seriously with all constructive proposals with regard to improving and upgrading the work environment in line with the main principles of Qatar National Vision 2030, a commitment to building a modern and dynamic Labor market.

His Excellency noted that the State of Qatar is one of the few countries that has opened the doors for all international organizations to see the pioneering experience in improving labor legislation and its implementation mechanisms, stressing the continuation of the policy of openness to all international organizations interested in the labor sector.

This came during Hies Excellency's meeting Wednesday with their Excellencies the ambassadors of Western states and Labor-sending countries, with the aim of informing them of the latest developments regarding the work environment in the State of Qatar.

The meeting also comes within the framework of the Ministry of Labors keenness to maintain continuous communication with the various ambassadors of the world to the country, and to review the legislative developments and updates and its executive mechanisms that have been implemented over the past years to improve the work environment.

HE Dr. Al Marri said that the State of Qatar has nothing to hide from the world regarding expatriate workers, the labor reforms implemented during the past ten years made Qatar one of the pioneering countries at the level of work in adopting a sustainable approach to improving and upgrading the work environment, even after the organization of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

HE Minister of Labor stressed that the allegations claimed by some to confuse the State of Qatar and tarnish its reputation will not affect the reform approach, but rather will increase the determination to move forward in improving the work environment and implementing the reforms that have taken place during the past years.

His Excellency indicated that these suspicious campaigns regarding the work environment in Qatar and against the labor reforms will not deter us from organizing a historic World Cup in the State of Qatar.

HE Minister of Labor praised the distinguished coordination between the Ministry of Labor and labor-sending countries and the bilateral meetings that had a positive impact on improving the conditions of expatriate workers in Qatar, noting the visits organized by trade unions to Qatar, which contributed to conveying the truth to the world about the conditions of workers in Qatar.

His Excellency highlighted the close partnership with the International Labor Organization (ILO) and many international organizations, which contributed to supporting and promoting development in the work environment in the State of Qatar, pointing out that the State of Qatar and the ILO signed a technical cooperation agreement in 2017, which had the greatest impact in strengthening that partnership.

His Excellency explained that the ILO report, issued Tuesday, refutes all allegations and lies that some are trying to use the Labor sector in suspicious campaigns against the State of Qatar since the announcement of hosting the FIFA World Cup 2022, noting that the ILO report, as a neutral party, reflects the strongest response to all those who disseminate lies and accusations against Qatar in the employment sector.
