Turkish President and his Russian Counterpart Discuss Situation Regarding Grain Agreement

Ankara, November 02 (QNA) -Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin discussed, during a phone call Wednesday, the situation regarding the "grain agreement".
According to a statement issued by the Turkish presidency, President Erdogan and the Russian President, discussed during the call regional issues, especially the latest developments in the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.
President Erdogan stressed that Ankara will continue to take the necessary initiatives for all parties, to solve problems related to the implementation of the Istanbul agreement on the supply of grain Earlier, the Turkish Defense Ministry announced that Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar discussed with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu over the phone the Russian side's decision to suspend its participation in the grain agreement.
Yesterday, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the suspension of the movement of ships through the safe passage specified under the Black Sea Initiative for the transportation of grain due, according to the Russian point of view, to its use by Ukraine in conducting combat operations against Russia" .
On July 22, Istanbul witnessed the signing of the "Initiative Document for the Safe Shipping of Grain and Foodstuffs from Ukrainian Ports" between Turkey, Russia, Ukraine and the United Nations. The agreement included securing exports of grain stuck in Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea to the world, to address the global food shortage crisis.(QNA)
