Doha, November 08 (QNA) - The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) launched an e- training program for medical personnel licensed by the Ministry within Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) , which is implemented by the Hamad International Training Center (HITC), in cooperation with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Primary Health Care (PHC) and Sidra Medicine.
The program provides training for all doctors, nurses, midwives, nutritionists and other supportive health care providers for pregnant, lactating women and infants, on the basic principles necessary for the success and continuation of breastfeeding for two years or more of the childs life, with the aim of providing medical personnel with the necessary knowledge to develop their skills and increase their efficiency.
Head of 'Healthy Children and Adolescents' in the National Health Strategy of the Ministry of Public Health Dr. Sadriya Al Kohji, said that the Ministry has approved the e-training program to be available to all concerned medical personnel in all health institutions in the State of Qatar to ensure that women and infants are provided with integrated, evidence-based care within the framework of the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative.
She added that the primary purpose of the BFHI is to ensure that mothers and newborns receive the right care at the right time in order to protect, promote and support breastfeeding in health facilities that provide maternal and child services.
The initiative comes within the framework of the National Health Strategy 2018-2022, which includes among its objectives the promotion of exclusive breastfeeding in the first six months of a child's life. (QNA)
