Doha, November 15 (QNA) - In concurrence with the countdown to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the Social and Economic Survey Research Institute (SESRI) at Qatar University (QU) organized the second virtual research symposium entitled "Survey Research and Sports: FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022" yesterday, in the presence of SESRI researchers.

This symposium comes within the framework of the Universitys efforts and its role in supporting all parties in preparing for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, due to kick off Nov. 20 and run through Dec. 18.

The symposium highlighted the social and cultural impact of the World Cup, as well as a topic on mental health, and another on the Institute's methods for collecting data for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

President of Qatar University Dr. Hassan Al Derham said the symposium comes as part of the Institutes research efforts in various developmental and social fields, saying "The Social and Economic Survey Research Institute at Qatar University has conducted several studies to guide the public and the government, in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, which sets out the long-term goals and national development strategies of the country.

Director of SESRI Prof. Kaltham Al Ghanim stated that the symposium comes in conjunction with the State of Qatar hosting the FIFA World Cup for the first time in the Middle East, highlighting SESRI's several lengthy research projects related to this important event.

All efforts are intertwined towards contributing to making the global event exceptional by all standards, Al Ghanim said. (QNA)
