Shura Council Participates in Parliamentary Symposium on 'Creating Safe Cyberspace for Democracy'

Doha, December 06 (QNA) - The Shura Council participated in a parliamentary symposium entitled "Creating a safe cyberspace for democracy", organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union in cooperation with the United Nations Ad Hoc Committee to Elaborate a Comprehensive International Convention on Countering the Use of Information and Communications Technologies for Criminal Purposes.
The Shura Council was represented in the symposium, which was held via visual communication technology, by HE Dr. Mohammed bin Butti Al Abdullah, member of the Council.
The symposium discussed a number of topics related to cybersecurity, raising awareness of the risks and consequences of cybercrime and critical infrastructure, exchanging good parliamentary practices and effective policies in the field of countering cybercrime, and ways to protect citizens in cyberspace to be included in the agreement.
