Baghdad, January 14 (QNA) - Speaker of Iraqi Parliament Mohammed Al-Halbousi said Saturday that his country is going ahead with the activation of bilateral cooperation with Jordan in various fields.

This came in a joint press conference between Al-Halbousi and his Jordanian counterpart Ahmed Al-Safadi.

During the press conference, Al-Halbousi said that the meetings that the Jordanian parliamentary delegation held with the three presidencies and the Iraqi political forces and parties over the past days asserted the constants between Iraq and Jordan, adding that security aspects and pursuing ISIS cells were also discussed, in addition to presenting the intelligence effort from Jordan and prosecuting those involved in corruption cases.

Al-Halbousi said that they discussed in detail the electrical grid connection file between Iraq and Jordan.

For his part, Jordanian Parliament Speaker Ahmed Al-Safadi said that extending a pipeline to export oil from Basra to the port of Aqaba will provide a new outlet for export, adding that the cost of investment will return to Iraq from export revenues.

Al-Safadi noted the issue of electrical grid connection between Iraq and Jordan, pointing out that they will seek to increase the amount of energy through this connection. There will be cooperation in all fields between the two countries, he stressed. (QNA)
