Ankara, January 18 (QNA) - Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said Wednesday that negotiations between Turkey and United States on the purchase of F-16 fighter jets are progressing well.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu will discuss the fighter jets file with the American side upon his visit to the United States on Thursday, Akar said in press statements.
He noted that Turkey senses a positive progress in the negotiations, adding that Turkey receives the necessary information, and the close cooperation with the US Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin is ongoing.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu will pay an official visit to the United States where he will meet with his US counterpart Antony Blinken, within the framework of the US-Turkey Strategic Mechanism.
The two sides are expected to discuss all aspects of the bilateral relations, in addition to regional developments. (QNA)
