Doha, January 19 (QNA) - Qatar Tourism (QT), and the Qatar Airways Group have jointly announced on Thursday the "Winter in Qatar" events that comprise a wide range of recreational activities during the launch of the 3rd edition of the Qatar Balloon Festival.
This came during the joint press conference of HE Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive and Chairman of Qatar Tourism Akbar Al Baker, Director of Shared Services at Qatar National Tourism Council Omar Abdulrahman Al Jaber and head of Marketing and Planning department at QT Sheikha Hessa Al-Thani.
During the press conference, they highlighted the package of the high-level of recreational winter activities in Qatar that fulfil all requirements and interests, and consolidate Qatar's leading position as a tourism destination that best suits all visitors.
With the conclusion of the exclusive version of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament, Qatar looks forward to proceeding with the similar rhythm of momentum and dynamic in 2023, HE Al Baker said, adding that he aspires to move forward towards achieving Qatar National Vision 2030.
The joint cooperation between the aviation and tourism sectors in Qatar will certainly yield a perfect program for the events and festivals for the year 2023, he added. He revealed that the Qatar's rally driver Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah, the title holder of 2023 Dakar Rally championship, has been appointed as QT's new brand ambassador.
For his part, Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah said that it was his great honor and pride to be a QT's new brand ambassador during 2023, emphasizing that he has real ambitions to support the objectives and values proposed by QT that primarily target the attraction of more visitors and tourists to the State of Qatar, and promote the country's leading position as a tourism destination.
In addition, Director of Shared Services at Qatar National Tourism Council Omar Abdulrahman Al Jaber said that the winter events in Qatar are the most important campaigns of QT to consolidate Qatar's tourism position, pointing out that the events include a wide range of activities and events that fulfil all aspirations, along with distinct service.
For her part, head of Marketing and Planning department at QT Sheikha Hessa Al-Thani said that the winter activities are intended to explore the distinguished experiences and offer various package of events for citizens, residents and visitors of the State of Qatar to enjoy an exceptional experience.
She pointed out that such events come in the context of the global campaign: 'Qatar is more than a feeling' that has been launched by QT recently, and aims to spotlight the position of the State of Qatar as an attractive tourism destination.
The family events and activities that coincide with the start of the winter season in Qatar include the third edition of the Qatar Balloon Festival 2023, with more than 50 balloons from 17 different countries adorning the skies of Doha.
The 10-day festival will include the launch of a large group of balloons at sunrise, enabling visitors to see Doha in a dazzling way, in addition to the "night glow" show with its lighting, where all 50 balloons, lit in a spectacular colorful display in the sky of Doha.
The activities also include "Qatar Live" activities, with a variety of live performances and concerts that will be presented by the most famous local and international artists, from Jan. 26 until the end of the season. Qatar Airways and Qatar Tourism also present the distinguished and world-famous artistic production "Disney Princesses Concert 2023" from Jan. 26-28, at Katara Amphitheater, in partnership with "Disney Concerts" and the Broadway Entertainment Group.
Some of Broadway and the West End's most celebrated artists will perform this unique concert for the Disney Princesses, as well as a live orchestral performance by the prestigious Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra.
At the Fuwairit Kite Beach Resort, the world tour competitions of the Freestyle Kitesurfing World Championship (GKA) will be held from Jan. 31 to Feb. 4.
The "Winter in Qatar" activities will also witness the opening of the 12th edition of the Qatar International Food Festival from March 1-11. Prior to this event, there will be many diverse events, workshops, and daily fun activities for the whole family, along with live cooking lessons from chefs from around the world.
From Feb. 13-18, the 21st edition of the Qatar Total Open Championship will be held in the outdoor courts of the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.
The events also include the 19th edition of the Doha Jewelry and Watches Exhibition, an exhibition set to dazzle the visitors with a unique collection of exclusive jewelry that celebrates excellence in the industry. The exhibition also offers luxurious watches, necklaces, rings, earrings, and jewelry made of diamonds, gold, and silver. It is scheduled to host 30,000 visitors from more than 175 countries, and it will open its doors from Feb. 20-25 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center.
Also in February, the Qatar ExxonMobil Open Tennis Championship will take place from Feb. 20-25, at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.
Al Shaqab will offer a variety of beautiful equestrian activities as part of the calendar of Qatar 2023 events.
Shop Qatar, due to be held from March 1-18, will celebrate a wide range of retail options, beauty and entertainment events in the famous shopping centers in Doha.
In the holy month of Ramadan, Qatar Tourism will sponsor the Bazar Ramadan in Doha, which will allow visitors to experience the perfect shopping experience and spend the happiest evenings after Iftar and participate in family activities and events all over Qatar. In addition, tourists will learn about the traditions and customs during the holy month and witness the various celebrations. (QNA)
