Noumea, January 23 (QNA) - An earthquake measuring 4.9 magnitude on the Richter scale hit off New Caledonia on Monday.
The epicenter of the tremor occurred southeast of the Loyalty Islands off the eastern coast of New Caledonia, at a depth of 10 km, the US Geological Survey reported.
There have been no reports of human loss or material damage.
New Caledonia lies along the Pacific Ring of Fire, a zone of high seismic activity. (QNA)
