QU, Al Attiyah International Foundation for Energy and Sustainable Development Enhance Joint Cooperation

Doha, January 24 (QNA) - Qatar University (QU) and the Abdullah Bin Hamad Al Attiyah International Foundation for Energy and Sustainable Development signed Tuesday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance bilateral cooperation in areas of common interest.

The MoU was signed by Vice President of QU for Research and Graduate Studies Prof. Mariam Al Ali Al Maadeed, and member of the Al Attiyah Foundation's Board of Trustees Fahad Bin Hamad Al Mohannadi.

Under the MoU, the two parties would exchange expertise and information, including bulletins, periodicals, studies, statistics and data, as well as the cooperation in the field of organizing conferences, meetings, training, and other possible fields.

Al Maadeed said that the QU's cooperation with Al Attiyah Foundation represents an advanced step towards achieving the goal of sustainable development in broader access to energy and improving the efficiency of using renewable energy by 2030.

She added that both sides share many common goals in the fields of energy and sustainable development, and that cooperation between them will contribute to the best implementation of sustainable national development projects and programs.

She also indicated that cooperation between the two parties will enhance the university's related to research, sustainable development and climate change, and achieve the university's mission to excel in studies and research related to local and regional challenges and contribute positively to achieving the needs of society and the country.

HE President of Al Attiyah Foundation Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, who virtually attended the signing ceremony, said that joint cooperation with the QU practically translates the goals of social responsibility that the Foundation seeks to achieve, and turns them into joint programs and activities that contribute to improving aspects of social development in the State of Qatar.

He added that "the MoU expresses Al Attiyah Foundation's confidence in the importance of cooperation with the QU as a distinguished scientific beacon and pioneering academic edifice, noting that the MoU seeks to establish a strategic partnership between the two parties and to enhance means of cooperation in a number of fields, the most prominent of which is the exchange of experiences In the academic and research field, and the use of experts in various aspects of common interest.

Al Mohannadi said that the strong and effective relationship between both sides dates back to years ago, and is based on common values and aspirations with regard to education and sustainable energy. He pointed out that a group of Al Attiyah Foundation experts gave lectures and presentations to postgraduate students on various topics.

He also pointed out that many QU students have gained valuable practical experience by participating in the practical training program for students implemented by Al Attiyah Foundation, indicating that the MoU came to emphasize the importance of this cooperation to develop the capabilities of future energy leaders, and to strengthen efforts between the two institutions in the common fields.

The Abdullah Bin Hamad Al Attiyah International Foundation for Energy and Sustainable Development was established in 2015 as a private institution of public benefit that seeks to provide independent insights on issues affecting the energy industry and sustainable development at the local, regional and international levels, and to contribute to finding solutions that keep pace with developments related to energy and sustainability.
