QC Continues Providing Urgent Aid to Quake-Affected Areas in Turkey, Syria
Doha, February 08 (QNA) - Qatar Charity (QC) announced that it would continue to provide humanitarian aid in the various areas affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, providing them with urgent humanitarian needs, including food, items for personal hygiene, and other relief needs.
In a statement on Wednesday, QC said that with the help of its campaign "Save Earthquake Victims in Turkey and Northern Syria" its teams on the ground are continuing to distribute about 45,000 hot meals to those affected between the Syrian interior and Turkey, to provide 6,500 parcels containing ready-to-eat foodstuffs in Azaz and Afrin in northern Syria, and to distribute 1,600 food baskets consisting of basic food items sufficient for families for a full month in Gaziantep and Urfa, Turkey, in addition to the distribution of more than 15,000 bundles of bread per day in Turkey.
QC also pointed out that, via the air bridge allocated by the State of Qatar, the charity organization shipped 13 tons of foodstuffs and nearly 4,000 blankets, in addition to the movement of a relief convoy from Doha towards the affected areas, consisting of 4 trucks transporting medical supplies, first aid, clothes, dates and foodstuffs worth a total value estimated at more than QR 500,000.
QC revealed that work is currently being prepared on a plan worth QR 21.9 million, consisting of an urgent response worth QR 7.3 million to create early recovery projects as well as reconstruction projects worth QR 14.6 million. (QNA)
