Doha, February 15 (QNA) - FIFA considered the infrastructure built for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 as superior and impressive, noting, in particular, the outstanding performance of power stations in terms of quality, flexibility and reliability.
In an official certificate of appreciation addressed to the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA), FIFA said that the huge infrastructure development, the qualitative investment, and careful operations planning conducted by KAHRAMAA in cooperation with the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) for the tournament were wide and comprehensive, enabling timely full readiness.
FIFA praised KAHARAMAA's effective collaborative approach with FIFA and SC throughout the preparation period, stressing that FIFA's work over the years with KAHRAMAA, gave FIFA a sense of confidence in the tournament's electrical infrastructure, which led to a perfect performance of the electrical network during the tournament, with no recorded problems or failures.
FIFA officials explained that KAHRAMAA's infrastructure and effective operations enabled FIFA's full reliance on the main electrical network during the tournament, without the need to use additional diesel generators as was usual in previous editions.
FIFA said that this is a precedent in the history of the World Cup, expressing its hope that KAHRAMAA's efficient and excellent achievement will serve as an example to be followed in future editions and other international sporting events.
Commenting on this achievement, HE KAHRAMAA President Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari expressed his deep pride in this certificate, stressing that it is an achievement that is added to the State of Qatar's record of achievements under the directives of the wise leadership.
Al Kuwari added that this serves as a major step towards the achievement of KAHRAMAA's vision, aiming to be a global leader in quality performance, to be followed around the world.
On a related level, KAHRAMAA Director of Electricity Networks Eng. Abdulla Ali Al Theyab praised the corporation's teams, crews, engineers, and technicians for their performance, saying that Qatar's hosting of the World Cup represented a great opportunity to show the corporation's efficiency and quality of work to the world, and we also benefited from the momentum The hosting represented a qualitative leap in the level of reliability of the infrastructure of the electric transmission network in the country, which will support the great urban and economic renaissance that the State of Qatar has been witnessing for years.
KAHRAMAA inaugurated the second energy control center before the start of the tournament to enhance the electrical control system in the State of Qatar. It also launched an operations center in compliance with FIFA requirements to follow up the progress of daily business, moment by moment, and to ensure the exemplary performance of the electrical network, which achieved high-performance rates and great reliability throughout the tournament in all stadiums and tourist sites in the State of Qatar.
KAHRAMAA owns the exclusive franchise right as the sole owner and operator of the electricity and water transmission and distribution network system in the State of Qatar. It was established in the year 2000 under Amiri Law No. 10 to regulate the sale of electricity and water to consumers, and to secure the country's need for them permanently. (QNA)
