NHRC Signs MoU with Turkish Counterpart

Doha, February 25 (QNA) - HE Chairperson of the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) Maryam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with HE Chairperson of the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Turkiye Prof. Dr. Muharrem Kilic.

The MoU aims to enhance cooperation between the two parties in spreading humanitarian ideas, initiatives, and practices and contributing to the promotion and protection of human rights for both countries, in addition to coordination, partnership, and exchange of experiences in accordance with the laws and regulations of each country, in a way that contributes to the promotion and protection of human rights.

Also, it aims to employ the expertise of the two parties to achieve a sustainable and effective response to all humanitarian and human rights activities and intensify cooperation in developing strategies and action plans.

The MoU includes cooperation in strengthening the national legislative framework for the participants in accordance with international agreements, participating in training programs on human rights issues, conducting joint research, carrying out joint media and awareness activities of common interest, and enhancing coordination between the two parties to facilitate the implementation of international obligations in the field of human rights.

The MoU comes in recognition of the need to improve mechanisms for protecting human rights and fundamental freedoms, strengthening democratic institutions and the rule of law, and joint cooperation for the effective protection of human rights. (QNA)
