Doha, March 13 (QNA) - Technical Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq Eng. Mohammad Sahib Al Darraji stressed that Iraq had suffered several crises and problems, which necessitates moving toward the reform process that seeks to build Iraq positively by selecting qualified people and taking effective steps on the ground.

Al Darraji said, on the sidelines of the Global Security Forum, that twenty years after Iraq's invasion, it is now possible to discuss many facts that occurred during the past two decades. He indicated that, on paper, it could be said that Iraq is a democratic state in which power is rotated. Several issues that have been seen in Iraq were due to political factions and other negative issues that led to a lack of governance and management, in addition to foreign interventions that stopped the democratic process by supporting certain political factions.

He explained that there is a new generation of empowered politicians in Iraq to direct the country's affairs toward the right path, noting that achieving the issue of economic balance is built in stages through platforms that provide respect for everyone despite many negative things.

He added that the Republic of Iraq played a vital role in creating a dialogue between neighbors, which was demonstrated during that past period, despite the troubles it faced due to imbalance, division, and division of wealth. He pointed out the efforts made by Iraq in the industrial field to produce vital economies, in addition to its great efforts in combating terrorism and enhancing security and peace in the region.

He stressed the need to invest in human resources in light of the presence of 42 million people in Iraq, of whom 60% are young people under 20 years old, noting that the Republic of Iraq played a focal role in providing energy to the world.

Regarding the energy file, Al Darraji said that as a producer and exporter of energy, Iraq had boosted its production to create a positive balance in the global energy market as long as it can do so, along with the role it plays in the region. With reference to the chances of building democracy in Iraq, he pointed out that Iraq has joint cooperation with several western countries.

He called for a reconsideration of the twenty years that have passed in Iraq, including many problems with neighbors, the crumbling economy, and other difficult repercussions, stressing that the stability of the region will lead to the stability of Iraq.

Concluding his speech on the sidelines of the Global Security Forum, Technical Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq Engineer Mohammad Sahib Al Darraji said that Iraq played a historical role in many situations and periods of time and endured a heavy cost, and today it is in an unenviable position, pointing to the necessity of having experienced people and good planners in his country to move forward toward real reform, and restore the role of the Republic of Iraq in the region, with its great history and heritage.

On the other hand, a number of experts and academics participating in the Global Security Forum reviewed the most prominent problems and challenges that Iraq faced during the past twenty years, referring to the climatic and environmental problems it suffers from today.

The experts noted that Iraq today is going through many problems related to poverty and instability, stressing that most Iraqi youths are thinking of traveling abroad in order to search for a real opportunity to secure their future.
