Doha, April 17 (QNA) - The Ministry of Culture's Department of Heritage and Identity will mark 2023 edition of World Heritage Day, which is observed on April 18 every year.

The occasion will be held this year under the slogan "Heritage Changes" as part of the harmful effects of climate change, which poses a threat to historical and cultural monuments.

The Ministry said in a statement it would submit two proposals to nominate the Bisht (an elegant Qatari dress for men) and the Ardha Dance (a folk dance in Qatar) to be included in the World Heritage Day 2024.

The ministry also announced preparations to join the joint Arabic Calligraphy Arts 2023, Henna Arts and Related Traditions, and the Al Sadu Craft in the 2023 edition.

Director of Heritage and Identity Department of the Ministry of Culture, Sheikha Najla Faisal Al-Thani said that the State of Qatar has many archaeological sites that receive great attention from the authorities in charge of preserving the country's heritage, as well as the cultural heritage that is documented, collected, archived, and registered in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

She added that the Department of Heritage and Identity has been registering Qatars archaeological and cultural heritage site as UNESCO world heritage sites since 2010.
