This came in a press conference attended by President of the Qatar Taekwondo, Judo & Karate Federation (QTJKF), Vice President and Director General of the Organizing Committee, Khalid bin Hamad Al Attiyah, Secretary-General of the QTJKF and Chairman of the Sports Committee, Eid Ali Al Muraikhi, HE Chairman of the Media and Broadcasting Committee Sheikh Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, Chairman of the Marketing and Communication Committee and the Opening and Closing Ceremonies Abdul Hadi Misfer Al Marri, and Vice Chairman of the Marketing and Communication Committee and the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the tournament Abdullah Al Marri.
Al Attiyah explained that Qatar has always been a hub for major sporting events, starting from the 2006 Asian Games to the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He added that the QTJKF has spared no effort in promoting judo in Qatar. Qatar welcomes, in cooperation with the International Judo Federation (IJF), 679 male and female players among the best athletes in this game globally, representing 99 countries, to display their skills and compete for titles, Al Attiyah added.
He extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to HE President of the Qatar Olympic Committee and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 2023 World Judo Championships, Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani for backing the QTJKF and supervising the tournament in all its preparatory phases.
He added that the organizing committee will meet on Wednesday with the IJF president, who arrived yesterday in Doha, and the IJF Executive Committee. On Thursday, the IJF General Assembly will be held in the presence of all member states.
HE Chairman of the Media and Broadcasting Committee, Sheikh Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani said that more than 195 local and foreign journalists will be covering the tournament. It is a great challenge to provide all the satisfactory media services that are worthy of the reputation of Qatar, His Excellency said, highlighting the coordination with the IJF president more than a year ago to ensure the implementation of the best media plans, and to provide all means of comfort for media coverage.
