SESRI at Qatar University Embarks on 15 Research Projects

Doha, May 13 (QNA) - The Social and Economic Survey Research Institute (SESRI) at Qatar University (QU) embarks on accomplishing several research projects during the current Academic year to overcome the contemporary challenges and respond to national needs.

In a report issued by the SESRI, the list includes 15 research projects that handle many economic and social topics that represent contemporary issues and challenges in the service of its orientations and objectives to build research abilities in Qatar, which can yield a proper evidence base for policymakers in commensurate with Qatar National Vision 2030, and Qatar National Research Strategy.

The report included an open government data with the objective of supporting its initiatives in the State of Qatar, using the offered data, evaluating awareness level by providing government data and surveying consumption indicators to monitor consumption and evaluate their impact on consumption behavior in Qatar.

The list also included the Qatari Youth Survey (QYS) that aims to identify the attitudes of youth towards the educational, functional, and social transformations, including Qatar Semi-Annual Survey (QSAS) to measure change in life aspects. The list featured the social, economic, and environmental impact of camps in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, and study of the population's stances towards the services in the world cup.

The calendar of the SESRI outlines several other research projects, including the survey of costs and productivity of the agricultural sector and livestock in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipality, the Qatari Attitudes towards college education in cooperation with Waseda University in Japan.

The SESRI recently announced that it had established the urban development office in policy management that will undertake the function of conducting urban development research. The institute also carried out several studies related to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament, including a two-stage survey on the perceptions and trends of citizens and residents before and after the tournament, in addition to surveying the perceptions and attitudes towards the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), including its role in organizing the tournament.

In addition, the SESRI adopted research projects pertaining to the workers' rights in collaboration with relevant entities in Qatar. (QNA)
