Doha, May 15 (QNA) - HE President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali on Monday stressed his country's interest in developing trade cooperation with the State of Qatar across many sectors including oil, gas and food security, particularly amid Qatar's great attention and achievements in them.

His Excellency called on Qatari investors and businessmen to invest in his country and benefit from opportunities in many sectors, mainly in oil and gas, infrastructure, tourism, services, hospitality, agriculture and others.

This came during his meeting with Qatar Chamber (QC) First Vice-Chairman Mohamed bin Twar Al Kuwari, at the Sheraton Hotel. During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations in the economic and commercial fields and ways to enhance them, in addition to the investment climate and opportunities available on both sides and the role of the private sector in activating the trade exchange between both countries.

The private sector in both sides can play a leading role in enhancing and expanding the cooperation relations between the two countries, His Excellency said.

His Excellency hailed the great importance Qatar is attaching to food security, stressing that his country offers a multitude of opportunities in this sector, where Qatari investors can invest in Guyana in producing grains, rice, poultry, meat and other food products.

His Excellency also stressed his country's interest to develop economic and commercial cooperation with Qatar and attract Qatari investors to benefit from the investment climate in his country, noting that his accompanying delegation include a number of businessmen specialized in various sectors like agriculture, real estate and tourism and that they are eager to establish partnerships with the Qatari side.

Al Kuwari praised the relations between the State of Qatar and Guyana, paying tribute to HE the Guyanese President's interest to meet with the QC as a representative of Qatar's private sector, pointing out that the time is right to discuss cooperation opportunities between the private sectors in both countries.

Al Kuwari affirmed that the Qatari investors are interested to learn about the investment opportunities available in Guyana, stressing the QC's support and encouragement to Qataris to expand their investments in countries such as Guyana which provides attractive opportunities in various sectors.

The Guyanese president's visit to Qatar would contribute to enhancing cooperation relations between both sides at all levels, especially at the level of the private sector, Al Kuwari said, noting that it also would help develop trade volume and mutual investments between both sides.

He stressed that the QC and the private sector highly welcome to enhance cooperation with their counterparts from Guyana by forging commercial alliances and investments that are of good advantage to both economies of both countries.
