Amman, June 01 (QNA) - The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change's Wildlife Development Department on Thursday concluded its participation in a regional workshop aimed at fostering technical capacities for the global forest resources assessment, in Jordan's capital Amman.

Organized by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the four-day event aimed to improve the quality and consistency of data with the Global Forest Resources Assessment (FRA 2025), by providing comprehensive, transparent and reliable insights that enable stakeholders to make informed decisions that affect forests and their sustainable management.

The workshop focused on improving the participants' reports on forest data, understanding FRA 2025's terms and definitions, and the guidelines and effective use of the online platform that compile their countries' reports.

Participants were given the opportunity to use innovations such as geospatial tools to address problems specific to the region, and to benefit from the experiences of other countries.

In March 2023, FAO launched a strategy for capacity development and data collection for FRA 2025, which features a series of regional workshops to provide technical assistance and guidance to national correspondents. (QNA)
