Doha, June 06 (QNA) - Museum With No Frontiers (MWNF) launched on Monday a new online exhibition platform in cooperation with the Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum.

The launch ceremony, hosted by Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum, included a panel of ten cultural institutions participating in the Museum With No Frontiers to discuss potential uses of the new online platform for education, exhibition programming, and hybrid exhibitions that combine digital technologies with regular museum technologies.

The launch ceremony was attended by representatives of relevant cultural institutions in Qatar, Oman, Egypt, Ethiopia, Jordan, Portugal, Turkiye, the United Kingdom, and the United States, in addition to a number of dignitaries, ambassadors, and local and international media representatives.

In a speech, HE Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani, the Founder and Chairman of Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum, stressed the importance of spreading the culture of museums locally and internationally, noting that those who left their possessions and legacy for future generations add to societies around the world and enrich their knowledge.

On his Museum's openness to the world, HE said, in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), that this great step took years before everyone benefitted from it.

For his part, HE High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Miguel Angel Moratinos congratulated the Museum With No Frontiers on this important step, and on the contribution the platform will make in promoting cultural dialogue between cultures all over the world, pointing out that the recent COVID-19 pandemic showed the role the Internet plays in our modern world. He stressing at the same time that culture is a well-known and necessary remedy for hate speech, ethnic hatred, and unjustified fears of the other based on lack of understanding.

It is worth noting that Museum With No Frontiers is a participatory program between public and private sectors for the purpose of building bridges based on knowledge and deep understanding.
This program consists of two main components: the first is the virtual Museum With No Frontiers and its specialized exhibitions. The second is the tracks of the Museum With No Frontiers and the booklets published in the different languages related to these tracks.

The experience of the Museum With No Frontiers in the field of virtual exhibitions began in 2006, when the first set of exhibitions was prepared in 2006-2007 as a component of the 'Discover Islamic Art' program, The second set of exhibitions was part of the 'Discover Baroque Art' program. (QNA)
